Trick or Treat?

PS: These last few entries were my first attempt to use the Picasa to download multiple pictures to the blog, and it was a HUGE time saver but for some reason several pictures are not showing up, so I will go back the to slow old fashioned way. It just takes longer to post so fewer posts - I may never catch up -= like how I feel with scrapbooking! =-)

Savanna is wearing the same costume from last year (it still fit!). Noah wanted to be a pirate, and I waited too late to buy anything, so I made this the night before. I made the scarf, vest, and sash from some $1/yd fabric on clearance, and I managed to find a hat for him. He's wearing one of Dan's dress shirts with the sleeves stuffed up so it looks like a pirate shirt. Dallas looks just like my dad, and when I was a little girl I used to think my dad was Superman because when he would wake up in the morning, he always had that little curl like Christopher Reeve had as Superman, but after he would shower and get ready, it was gone! I can't remember what age I was when I realized Superman wasn't real. So I found this Superman Returns costume and thought it was perfect for Dallas.

Just before the journey:

Totally off subject, but not so much. Just for fun, here are some comparison photos (I finally got a scanner, so I am adding these photos a year later, a digression I probably would have made back then)...

Dad, Michael Ray Fowler, probably about 9 months? There's his Superman curl...

Dallas at 9 months:

Dad, maybe 10 or 11 months:

Dallas, at 11 months, his first Halloween:

Dallas, One year old:

Dad, one year old:

Dallas, again, one year old (he's quite a bit chubbier than Dad, but he's a skinny dude now!):

More fun - Can you pick Mike? He's in the same grade that Dallas is in these photos (I didn't put those numbers on there):

And here's Dad, looks like junior high maybe - so maybe Dallas will look like this in a few years (like me, huh?):

BTW - he's #2 in that group photo...

And here's my dad in his late teens or early 20's, in the Navy (Vietnam War) - on the back of the photo it says "Well, here I am in my dress whites!

And on the back of this one, it says, "The real me!"

Here he is on the ship, probably close to the end of his tour. He never wore a 'stache with us. Probably like me, Mom didn't care for the whisker kisses! Dad met Mom right after he left the service.

This is me, about Dallas's age - weird, huh? Who looks like who?

This is Dad how I remember him...

Always barbecuing on the weekends. No one has matched his technique (not even Smokey 'Mo - and we LOVE Smokey 'Mo's)

Santa Daddy, Christmas 1995, always passing the presents to us:

At Dallas's 1st birthday party. He passed on to Heaven less than a year later (2 days before my birthday).

And here I am, forever his daughter, as I used to write on all his birthday and Father's Day cards. He's almost giving away his secret identity here. Doesn't every little girl think her dad's Superman?

Back to Halloween...

It's a plane; it's a train; no wait!

It's Superman!
